Period 9 - July 27th 2023

Posting in January... better late than never! Banding summary below, and more photos to come when I am back stateside (mid-March). Also, please let me know if I've gotten the attendance list wrong! It's been a while...

The day of the Lazuli Bunting...! The 20th in station history. Recap Hutton's Vireo too, exciting stuff.

No unbanded birds today! Good for us. Also, no hummingbirds.

Peggy noted yet another "friar towhee": referring to Spotted Towhees caught this year with calloused, featherless heads (see photos). Do the feathers grow in eventually? Does this affect both juveniles and adults? Is this a known affliction and if so, who/where/why? Something worth investigating!
