Setting Up

Arrive 10 minutes before sunrise to help set up the station equipment.

• We will have one processing table with two sets of the same equipment; the BLUE set, and the GREEN set.

• We'll use a tablecloth to minimize noise for the birds.

• Essential items only on the processing table; keep it tidy!

Each set of equipment will have:

• New Capture banding sheets and clipboard (one sheet for each band size)

• Strings of consecutive bands for each band size.

ALWAYS USE BAND CANISTERS WITH THE MATCHING BAND SHEETS (e.g. green canisters with the banding sheets marked 'green')

• Pyle guide

• Leg gauge

• Banding pliers

• Band-remover pliers

• Optivisor

• Dropper of clean water

• ​​Ruler for wing cord

• ​​Scale

• ​​Pill bottles for weighing

• Some equipment will be shared in the center of the table (such as calipers)

• One area of the table will be for processing Recaptures and Unbanded birds ONLY

  • Recapture banding sheets and clipboard: one sheet for each band size

  • A single Unbanded banding sheet (all species on one sheet)
